Ms. Wei Lu
Ms. Lu studied at the Academy of Art and Design in Tsinghua University. After graduating, she engaged in product design and illustration for children's books. Since immigrating to the United States in 2007, she redirected her passion towards art education. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Ms. Lu stands out for her personalized approach to education, developing learning plans tailored to the unique circumstances and goals of each student. Her students, ranging in age from 7 to 70 and coming from various professions and backgrounds, all enjoy the art learning process and make significant progress. In her courses, students learn solid painting foundations and techniques, design skills, and have the freedom to unleash their imagination.
Throughout the year, she organizes art activities and workshops, encourages and supports students to participate in art competitions, and engages in community art practice. Her students have received Gold Key Awards at both the district and national levels in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, and have won 1st place in the Duck Stamp competition in Virginia. Additionally, she has supported a student in creating activities that promote local art education in Africa and beyond.
Ms. Lu’s works have been selected to be included in the "Strokes of Genius 2: The Best of Drawing Light and Shadow" series. In 2013, she won 1st place in the Vienna Arts Society watercolor painting competition and received an Outstanding Award in the City of Fairfax's art competition for her watercolor work. In 2014, she received the Mayor Jane Seeman Memorial Award. In 2024, she got the third prize in the Juried Art Contest held by Gallery 4 Percent.
